Highly acclaimed as an excellent resource for both classroom and individual study of the Hawaiian language, 'Ōlelo 'Ōiwi is once again available to all of us desiring to either begin our study of Hawaiian or increase our knowledge and understanding of the basic grammar and vocabulary of the language.

First published by 'Aha Pūnana Leo in 1994, ten years after the opening of the first Pūnana Leo preschool in Kekaha on the island of Kaua'i, this widely sought-after text has been reissued by Kamehameha Publishing under the title Hawaiian Language Fundamentals: 'Ōlelo 'Ōiwi.

The text has been touted for its logical sequence of first teaching simple patterns which are then combined and built upon to provide the learner with a solid base for a clear understanding of more complicated grammatical patterns. 'Ōlelo 'Ōiwi also provides extensive insight into Hawaiian usage and basic vocabulary in order to aid the learner in making appropriate choices of words and sentence patterns when conversing in Hawaiian.
